Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940's working in Chicago's first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati's Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago's best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. To find the perfect recipe, you first need the perfect ingredients. And that's what our founders Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz were for each other. We are a family owned restaurant specializing in home-style cooking from El Salvador and Central America. Our recipes trace back to our homeland of El Salvador where “Niña Martha” became known by her community for her delicious chicken tamales, fresh green corn tamales and various other homemade meals that she would send her daughter Miriam to deliver to the workers at the “fincas”, the fields of coffee beans and corn.
