Pepe’s Restaurants have continuously served the Southland with fine quality Mexican food. Pepe’s was founded in 1962 by three brothers, Joe, Tony and Fred. Unable to find steady business at first, the location was changed several times before finally settling in Alhambra in 1962, where the name was changed permanently to “Pepe’s.” During these early years, the brothers often relied on the help of family members to keep the business growing. In 1962, their nephew “Pepe” was sent to fight in Vietnam. This is when Tony, out of love for his nephew, renamed the restaurant after him, Pepe's. Business Owner Diane and Larry has been in the restaurant and bar business for over 12 years. Growing up, Diane had an interest in community and business management that persisted to adulthood. Naturally, her and her husband chose to work in the neighborhood bar and grill business. Diane enjoys being able to serve the public at Charley's Place where fantastic food and entertainment is the driving force of the business.
