Pepe’s Restaurants have continuously served the Southland with fine quality Mexican food. Pepe’s was founded in 1962 by three brothers, Joe, Tony and Fred. Unable to find steady business at first, the location was changed several times before finally settling in Alhambra in 1962, where the name was changed permanently to “Pepe’s.” During these early years, the brothers often relied on the help of family members to keep the business growing. In 1962, their nephew “Pepe” was sent to fight in Vietnam. This is when Tony, out of love for his nephew, renamed the restaurant after him, Pepe's. In the following years, the restaurant had become a great success. However, in 1973 Tony passed away leaving Joe and Fred to run the business solely. Jay's was established in 1955 and is one of the last of it's kind..a real neighborhood tavern! Excellent drinks, great jukebox, 2 pool tables, video and dart games, a vending machine, 6 tv's, a wonderful turtle tank and a back patio to enjoy your cocktails and a smoke (if you so desire)once in a while you can even get in a game of "Korn Holeing" and win the coveted Korn Holeing Trophy handmade by Dusty herself!...
